আজই বিপিন রাওয়াত ও তাঁর স্ত্রীর শেষকৃত্য়।
চপার দুর্ঘটনায় নিহত দেশের সেনা সর্বাধিনায়ক বিপিন রাওয়াত। মৃত্যু হয়েছে তাঁর স্ত্রী সহ ওই কপ্টারে সওয়ার মোট ১৩ জনের। সন্ধে ৬টা নাগাদ ভারতীয় সেনার তরফে সেনা সর্বাধিনায়কের মৃত্যুর খবর নিশ্চিত করা হয়। হাসপাতালে মৃত্যুর সঙ্গে পাঞ্জা লড়ছেন গ্রুপ ক্যাপটেন বরুণ সিং।
With deep regret, it has now been ascertained that Gen Bipin Rawat, Mrs Madhulika Rawat and 11 other persons on board have died in the unfortunate accident.

বুধবার দুপুর তামিলনাড়ুর নীলগিরি জেলায় ১২টা নাগাদ তামিলনাড়ুতে ভেঙে পড়ে সেনা হেলিকপ্টার। দুর্ঘটনাগ্রস্ত হেলিকপ্টারে ছিলেন সস্ত্রীক চিফ অফ ডিফেন্স স্টাফ বিপিন রাওয়াত-সহ বেশ কয়েকজন শীর্ষ সেনা আধিকারিক। পরে দুর্ঘটনাস্থল থেকে গুরুতর জখম অবস্থায় বিপিন রাওয়াতকে উদ্ধার করা হয়। তাঁর শরীরে অধিকাংশই ঝলসে গিয়েছিল বলে খবর। চিকিৎসার জন্য ওয়েলিংটন সেনা হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয় তাঁকে।গঠন করা হয় ৬ সদস্যের মেডিক্যাল টিমও। কিন্তু শেষরক্ষা সম্ভব হল না।
দুর্ঘটনার পরই ভারতীয় বায়ুসেনা টুইট করে জানিয়েছে, "একটি IAF Mi-17V5 হেলিকপ্টার, যাতে সিডিএস জেনারেল বিপিন রাওয়াত ছিলেন, তামিলনাড়ুর কুন্নুরের কাছে আজ দুর্ঘটনার সম্মুখীন হয়েছে৷ দুর্ঘটনার কারণ জানতে তদন্তের নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে।"

আগেই ঘটনার তদন্তের নির্দেশ দিয়েছে ভারতীয় সেনা। এই প্রসঙ্গে আগামিকাল সংসদে বিবৃতি দিতে পারেন প্রতিরক্ষামন্ত্রী। প্রধানমন্ত্রী মোদীর সঙ্গে কথা হয়েছে রাজনাথ সিংয়ের। কুন্নুরের বিষয়টি নিয়ে প্রতিরক্ষামন্ত্রকের শীর্ষ আধিকারিকরা বৈঠক করছেন।
দেশের প্রধান সিডিএস বিপিন রাওয়াতের মৃত্যুতে শোকপ্রকাশ করেছেন প্রদানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী। দেশ রক্ষায় রাওয়াতের পরামর্শ ও ভূমিকা চিরস্মরণীয় বলে জানিয়েছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী।

শোকপ্রকাশ করেছেন কেন্দ্রীয় স্বরাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী অমিত শাহ। টুইটারে তিনি লিখেছেন, 'আজ দেশের কাছে খুবই দুঃখের দিন। দেশ প্রথম সিডিএসকে হারালো। দেশ রক্ষায় তাঁর দৃঢ় ভূমিকার কথা চিরস্মরণীয়। তাঁর স্ত্রী মধুলিকার মৃত্যুতেও আমি বেদনাহত।'
